Paris: French police broke up a pro-Palestinian protest by dozens of university students in Paris, French police broke up a pro-Palestinian university protest. AFP has reported concerning the university authorities.
Police intervened as dozens of students gathered at the central Paris campus of the prestigious Sciences Po University, the administration said.
“After discussions with the administration, most of them agreed to leave the premises,” university officials said in a statement to AFP, adding that the protests were adding to “tension” at the university.
But “a small group of students” refused to leave and “it was decided that the police would evacuate the place”,
Sciences Po said it regretted that “multiple attempts” to get the students to leave the premises peacefully did not bear fruit.
The protesters demanded that Sciences Po “sever ties with universities and companies that are complicit in the genocide in Gaza” and, according to witnesses, “end the repression of pro-Palestinian voices on campus”.
