‘Defamatory behaviour’, martial arts Irfan Mehsud returns 5 lakh check from KP government

Dawn News Desk

PESHAWAR: Irfan Mehsud, a martial arts player who completed a century of Guinness World Records, has returned a check of Rs.
On Thursday, Irfan Mehsud returned a prize check of five lakh rupees to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government sports advisor.
He has returned the reward check for the behavior of the officials of the Sports Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Irfan Mehsud said that the behavior of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa sports department officials was disgraceful. If you cannot respect the players, then they should not be called to their offices for the sake of money.
“I had already complained that there are talks but not practical work, but the officers reassured me that you will be supported and you bring the proposal.”
According to Irfan Mehsud, he was also offered an honorary job as a coach, but “at a very low salary and to be kept as daily wagers is tantamount to humiliation.”
I was asked to give a proposal regarding the academy, but after giving the proposal, the officers started bargaining with me. I was treated as if I had done nothing. This is disrespect to national heroes. The meeting was limited to a photo session only.
It should be noted that last day, Advisor to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sports and Youth Affairs Syed Fakhar Jahan had a meeting with martial arts athlete Irfan Mehsud, and he was given a cash prize check of five lakh rupees.
The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had also announced to take him as an honorary coach.
