Sahiwal, a city known for its rich history and cultural heritage, is facing a growing problem that threatens to compromise its beauty and public safety: illegal billboards. Despite Supreme Court orders and repeated warnings, Commissioner Sahiwal, DC Sahiwal, and DGPHA have failed to take effective action against these illegal constructions. This inaction is a flagrant violation of Supreme Court orders and dereliction of duty.
The proliferation of illegal billboards in Sahiwal is a result of carelessness and corruption. With the connivance of corrupt officials, corrupt advertisers have been allowed to put up billboards without permission, and safety standards have not been adhered to. This has led to a situation where billboards are growing haphazardly, blocking sidewalks, and creating dangerous conditions for drivers and pedestrians alike.
The Supreme Court has repeatedly ordered the removal of illegal billboards, citing the need to protect public safety and preserve the aesthetic appeal of the city. However, these orders have been ignored, and the threat of illegal billboards continues to grow. This blatant disregard for the law and the authority of the Supreme Court is unacceptable and calls for immediate action.
The consequences of this neglect are far-reaching:
- Illegal billboards obstruct the landscape and create visual pollution
- They compromise public safety by blocking pedestrian paths and driver visibility
- They damage the aesthetic appeal and cultural heritage of the city
- They encourage a culture of disregard for the law
The people of Sahiwal deserve better from their authorities. We demand immediate action from Commissioner Sahiwal, DC Sahiwal, and DGPHA:
- Implement Supreme Court orders and remove illegal billboards
- Conduct a comprehensive survey to identify and remove illegal billboards
- Enforce strict regulations and permit systems for billboard installations
- Increase patrols and enforcement to prevent new illegal billboards from being erected
Citizens of Sahiwal will no longer tolerate this negligence and violation of Supreme Court orders. We demand accountability and effective action to tackle the scourge of illegal billboards and restore our city to its former glory.
