Geneva: The United States has vetoed the resolution presented to Palestine as a full member of the United Nations as a state in the Security Council.
According to Arab News, 12 out of 15 members supported the draft resolution from Algeria, while Britain and Switzerland were absent during the voting in the Security Council. The United States voted against the resolution and vetoed it.
To pass a resolution in the Security Council, at least nine votes are needed in its favor and it is necessary to avoid using the veto power of the five permanent members of the council, the United States, Britain, France, Russia, and China.
