RIYADH: The 44th edition of the International Hasan Qaraat, Tahfeez, and Tafseer Qur’an competition will be held in Makkah in August 2024 under the supervision of King Salman bin Abdulaziz.
The competition is being organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Da’wah.
Readers and reciters from different countries will participate in the international competition.
Total prizes of 4 million riyals have been kept for the competition of good recitation and interpretation of the Holy Quran.
Minister of Islamic Affairs Sheikh Dr. Abdul Latif Al-Sheikh says the closing ceremony of the competition will be held in Masjid al-Haram.
There are 5 categories for the contestants. The first category will be reserved for those who have memorized the complete Quran and are experts in Tajweed and seven recitations.
In the second part, those guardians of the Holy Qur’an who are experts in the art of Tajweed and interpretation of the verses of the Qur’an.
In the third category, Hafaz is an expert in the art of Tajweed, while in the fourth category, Hafaz and Tajweed of 15 paragraphs, while in the fifth category, there will be a competition between Hafaz and Tajweed of 5 paragraphs.
In the first category, 5 lakh riyals will be awarded to the first-place winner, 4 lakh 50 thousand riyals for the second, and 4 lakh riyals for the third place.
The first winner of the second category will be awarded 3 lakh, the second 2 lakh 75 thousand, and the third place will be awarded 2 lakh 50 thousand riyals.
In the competition of the third category, 2 lakh riyals are given to the first-place winner, 1 lakh 90 thousand riyals for the second place and 1 lakh 80 thousand riyals for the third place.
For the fourth and fifth category winners, 1 lakh 70 thousand and 1 lakh 60 thousand riyals have been fixed for the first-place winner.
In the competition, cash prizes have been kept for other types of winners, whose value will range from 12 lakh to 45 thousand riyals.
