British judges’ letter to the Prime Minister, demanding to stop arms supply to Israel

London: More than 600 lawyers, judges, and legal experts, including the former British Chief Justice, have urged their government to stop arms sales to Israel.
In a 17-page letter to Prime Minister Rishi Sonak, more than 600 judges and barristers from the legal sector said that if the UK government did not stop arms sales to Israel, Britain itself would end up in Gaza. He will be found guilty of corruption.
He wrote that “as a result of providing military aid to Israel, the UK would not only be accused of genocide but would also be guilty of grave violations of international humanitarian law.”
Although the United States, Germany, and Italy are the major countries that sell arms to Israel more than the United Kingdom, if the United Kingdom imposes a ban, it will increase diplomatic and political pressure on Israel.
Three retired Supreme Court judges including former British Chief Justice Lady Hale are among the letter writers.
He called for the British government to review the current trade deal with Israel, suspend the 2030 roadmap for bilateral relations, and impose sanctions on Israeli figures who have made statements inciting the Palestinian genocide.
Former Supreme Court judge Justice Lord Sumption, speaking on the BBC program, said, “We must stop genocide and we must do what we can.” “The international law of war does not mean that countries can act as they please, it does not mean that you can slaughter innocent civilians and children indiscriminately and attack aid convoys, aid convoys,” he said. Can withdraw workers’ visas and destroy hospitals for two weeks, no, not at all, but you have limits.
The letter calls for restoring funding to the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, suspending ongoing diplomatic and “improved trade agreement” negotiations with Israel, suspending the current trade agreement with Israel, and imposing “sanctions” on Israel.
