Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has formed a joint grand alliance with like-minded political parties to give tough time to the government, which has agreed to give the leadership to Mahmood Achakzai.
According to the sources, Mehmood Achakzai will head the alliance in consultation with all the political parties and he will also meet Maulana Fazlur Rehman within three days and invite him to join the alliance.
Sources say that Maulana Fazlur Rehman has already given a call to go against the government, PTI and JUI under the leadership of Mehmood Khan Achakzai will announce the protest demonstrations.
PTI and JUI will go together under the leadership of Mehmood Khan Achakzai while Jamaat-e-Islami is also likely to get a major position in the alliance.
Earlier, five opposition parties held a meeting regarding the Grand Alliance, in which Liaquat Baloch from Jamaat-e-Islami, Mehmood Achakzai of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, Akhtar Mengal of Balochistan National Party, Gohar Khan, Chairman of Tehreek-e-Insaf, Chairman of Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen. Allama Raja Nasir Abbas also participated.
PTI’s Asad Qaiser and opposition leader Umar Ayub also attended the meeting. In the important meeting, issues related to the formation of the opposition alliance were consulted while some important decisions were also taken.
