Islamabad: The phase of appointing the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly has been completed. Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has appointed Umar Ayub Khan as the leader of the opposition supported by independent members. Umar Ayub Khan is the opposition supported by independent members. He has been declared a leader. In the absence of notification by the Election Commission, he will not be the leader of the opposition in the Sunni Ittehad Council as the Sunni Ittehad Council has no seat in Parliament.
Acknowledgment supported by independent members of Tehreek-e-Insaf
The National Assembly Secretariat has recognized the independent members as supported by Tehreek-e-Insaf. In the official document, independent members have been declared as PTI-backed.
In the light of Peshawar High Court’s decision, joining the Sunni Ittehad Council was not recognized.
The name of Umar Ayub was submitted by the opposition for the leader of the opposition. The Speaker National Assembly declared Umar Ayub the leader of the opposition after completing the scrutiny process under Rule 39 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business of the National Assembly.
The time for submission of papers for the nomination of the Leader of the Opposition was till 6 pm on April 1.
