Kabul: The Taliban arrested two American citizens for violating the laws in Afghanistan. The spokesman of the Taliban government has confirmed that two American citizens are in their custody for violating the Afghan laws. The spokesman of the Taliban government, Zabih Allah Mujahid told the Afghan Broadcasting Agency Tolo News that after the arrest of the American citizens, discussions are ongoing with the American authorities in this regard. There was no explanation. Mujahid further said that when foreign nationals travel to Afghanistan, they must follow Afghan laws. According to him, “If these people (foreign tourists) violate the rules, they may face legal action.”
According to the American news agency CBS, the wife of Ryan Corbett, an American citizen imprisoned in Afghanistan since 2022, contacted her husband by telephone this week. After this phone call, Ryan’s wife expressed serious concern for his safety.
On the other hand, the US State Department has assured that they are making full efforts for Ryan’s release.
