The Punjab government has not yet been able to convince Aitchison College principal Michael A. Thompson to reverse his decision to resign. Although Michael A. Thompson resigned on March 25, Governor Balighur Rehman of Punjab gave him a 28-day leave outside of Pakistan in the hope that he might withdraw his resignation. A person very close to him told Dr. Akhtar Gulfam that he had not withdrawn his resignation. The Punjab government had claimed in a statement to the media that Michael A. Thomson had withdrawn his resignation.
