‘Unacceptable post’ on Palestine: Singapore removes Israeli Embassy Facebook post

The post said that Israel is mentioned 43 times in the Quran. Palestine, on the other hand, is not mentioned even once

SINGAPORE: The Singaporean government has asked the Israeli embassy to remove a ‘completely unacceptable’ Facebook post about Palestine, Singapore’s Law and Home Affairs Minister Shanmugam has said. It was said that Israel is mentioned 43 times in the Quran. Palestine, on the other hand, was not mentioned even once.

“Every piece of archaeological evidence—maps, documents, coins—links the land of Israel to the Jews.”

The post was deleted later that day.

Mr Shanmugam told reporters on Monday that he was “very upset” when he found out about the post.

He said the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which told the Israeli embassy that the post should be removed immediately.
