London: Israel has warned four European countries that their ongoing plans to recognize a Palestinian state could reduce the chances of possible negotiations to ease the conflict. In a statement released on Friday, it referred to an agreement called ‘Peace in the Middle East’.
Spain said it, along with Ireland, Malta, and Slovenia, had agreed to take the first step towards recognizing a Palestinian state in the Israeli-occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip.
In a statement issued by Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz on X (former Twitter), it was said that ‘recognizing the Palestinian state after the October 7 massacre sends a message to Hamas and other terrorist organizations that murderous Israelis are being targeted. The answer to the terrorist attacks will be given to the Palestinians in the form of political or dialogue. He further said that the resolution of the conflict would be possible only through direct negotiations between the parties. Any involvement in the recognition of a Palestinian state will only serve to disrupt efforts to reach a solution and not only that, it will increase regional instability.
