The government’s attempt to take over the mosques, the registered and unregistered mosque committees of Islamabad are nullified

Islamabad: All the registered and unregistered mosque committees of Islamabad were declared null and void under the rules of 1986.
The rules of 2023 have been implemented in place of the rules of 1986 on mosques and imambargahs of the endowment and non-endowment department, according to which no controversial speech will be allowed from mosques and imambargahs in the federal capital Islamabad.
Under the new rules, mosque committees will be established under the supervision of qualified religious scholars or existing founding trustees. The Waqf Properties (Mosque Management) Rules of the Federal Capital have been implemented, these rules will apply to all mosques and imambargahs. The Islamabad Mosque Management Rules consist of 9 main and 22 sub-points which must be implemented in the Federal Capital. Except for the registration of the administration, all unregistered committees will be abolished, while a waqf manager, an authentic religious scholar, will be appointed in mosques and imambargahs. The waqf manager must be a qualified religious scholar or a founding trustee of the mosque and imambargah and the waqf manager will be appointed who is bound by all the laws.
