Registration case application against General (Rtd) Qamar Bajwa, Faiz Hameed scheduled for a hearing

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court has scheduled for hearing the application filed against former Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa, former DGISI Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed, and two journalists in the FIA for alleged violation of the Official Secrets Act. In his petition filed by Ali, he sought to file a case against the said journalists and ex-generals for reporting on the role of ex-military officers in politics. The petition claimed that the revelations made in the interview violated the Official Secrets Act. are tantamount to inciting rebellion and unrest. The petitioner took the stand that former Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa was interviewed irresponsibly and journalists Javed Chaudhry and Shahid Maitla were responsible for publishing these interviews. Islamabad High Court has issued notices to the Federal Investigation Agency FIA, General (Rtd) Qamar Javed Bajwa, and General (Rtd) Faiz Hameed on the request for registration of the case. Chaudhry, Shahid Maitla, and Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) have also been issued notices. The petition further requested that the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) should also issue a directive to ban the two journalists.
