‘India’s first plot in Kashmir’, an announcement of the construction of Maharashtra Bhavan in Srinagar

Budgam: Maharashtra has become the first state in India to purchase two and a half acres of land in Indian-administered Kashmir after its special constitutional status was changed. This will be the first building owned by any Indian state in Kashmir. It will be built in the area. The Maharashtra Cabinet approved the purchase of the land on Wednesday. ‘Maharashtra Bhawan’ will be built on two and a half acres of land in Achgam near Srinagar Airport. According to Indian Express, the Maharashtra government has built guest houses in Srinagar for its tourists, pilgrims, and state officials under the name of ‘Maharashtra Bhawan’. The government of Indian-administered Kashmir (which is now a Union Territory of India after the central government’s move on August 5, 2019) has also approved the sale of the land, the Kashmir Revenue Department said in a statement. That “20 Kanal Shamilat village land in Achgam area of Budgam has been approved to be transferred to the state of Maharashtra for 81.6 million rupees.” ‘Maharashtra Bhawan’ will be constructed.
