Berlin: Millions of citizens will be affected by the joint strike of rail and airline employees in Germany. Flights to and from Germany will be suspended, according to the report of Dawn TV representative Irish Hayat. Striking staff at national airline Lufthansa and rail operator Deutsche Bahn have demanded higher pay. The situation forced millions of affected citizens to resort to alternative means. Germany’s long-distance and regional rail networks were brought to a standstill after train drivers staged a 35-hour strike to demand higher wages. On the other hand, the ground staff of Lufthansa also started a two-day strike. The national airline is expected to be able to operate only 10 to 20 percent of its original flight schedule.
