Discarded votes in 24 constituencies of the National Assembly revealed to be more than the margin of victory

Lahore: According to the report of Daily Dawn London and Dawn TV, it has been revealed that in at least 24 constituencies of the National Assembly, the number of rejected votes is more than the margin of victory. This was revealed after the review of the inconclusive election results by the Election Commission of Pakistan. Out of the constituencies in which this margin was revealed, 22 constituencies of Punjab, while one each of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh. 24 Out of 13 constituencies, the Muslim League (N) won while the Pakistan Peoples Party won in five constituencies, Azad supported by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf in 4 and other independent candidates won in 2 constituencies. Malik Sohail Khan of Muslim League (N) got 119 thousand 75 votes, he defeated Chaudhry Pervez Elahi’s niece Iman Waseem by a margin of 1 thousand 886 votes, the number of rejected votes in this constituency was 9 thousand 938. In NA 59 (Tala Gang Chakwal), Sardar Ghulam Abbas of Muslim League (N) got 1 lakh 41 thousand 680 votes to his nearest rival PTI supported Muhammad Ruman Ahmed who got 1 lakh 29 thousand 716 votes. The margin was 11 thousand 964, while the number of rejected ballot papers was 24 thousand 547, which is the highest number of rejected votes in a single constituency. Engineer Amir Makam defeated the PTI-backed candidate by a margin of 5,552 votes by securing 59,863 votes, while the number of rejected votes was 5,743.
