Washington: Several members of the US Parliament have urged the Biden administration not to recognize the election results in Pakistan until the alleged irregularities are investigated. In support of Pakistani democracy, the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Michael McColl, the ranking member, Gregory Max, and several members of the Assembly, including the Muslim member Ilhan Omar, have expressed their concern over the election results in Pakistan. Given the strong statements regarding the election results in Pakistan, Joe Biden appealed to the government and Congress to consider the serious concerns of irregularities in the counting of votes and ballot tampering. Avoid accepting the election results until there is a credible and independent investigation into the multiple allegations of maladministration in Pakistan’s elections. Rashida Tlaib, a female Muslim Member of Parliament, said that we must stand with the people of Pakistan because their democracy is under serious threat. Pakistanis should have the full right to elect their leaders without interference and tampering in the electoral process, and the United States should ensure that our tax dollars do not go to anyone who would harm them.
