London: Amnesty International London has asked India to refrain from demolishing Muslim properties. Amnesty International has released two recent reports confirming that the Hindutva politics of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in India continue to illegally demolish Muslim properties, while in various states Muslim homes, businesses and Places of worship are being targeted. In its report, Amnesty International called the executions “extrajudicial punishment” and demanded compensation for the victims as hundreds of people, especially Muslims, were killed. The houses have been demolished and their livelihoods have been completely destroyed. The report of Amnesty International said that due to the demolition of houses by bulldozers, about 617 people have lost their roof or permanent livelihood, while the property of Muslims has been destroyed. It was targeted in Assam, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi of the ruling BJP governs all five states and faces accusations of anti-Muslim rhetoric. The report said that the Indian authorities ignored the enforcement of the law and destroyed homes, businesses and places of worship. According to Amnesty International, the law was flouted by hatred, incitement, harassment and JCB bulldozers. Amnesty International demanded that actions involving violations of human rights be addressed. Amnesty International Secretary-General Agnes Callomard said, “The illegal demolition of Muslim property by Indian authorities, which political leaders and the media call ‘bulldozer justice’, is cruel and appalling… They are destroying families. It should be stopped immediately.”
