British parliamentarians express solidarity with the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir, expressing deep concern over the humanitarian crisis

London (PR) A meeting of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Kashmir was held in the British Parliament on Tuesday. A large number of British members and UK-based Kashmiri leaders attended the meeting chaired by APPG Chairperson MP Debbie Abrahams. The British parliamentarians expressed deep concern over the worsening humanitarian crisis in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He demanded the British Government and Parliament to play their full role to end the suffering of millions of Kashmiris. The MPs vowed to continue to raise the issue of human rights violations and missing persons in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir in the UK Parliament and other platforms. The MPs demanded that India lift the communication blockade, release political prisoners and allow human rights organizations to visit the occupied territory. He demanded meaningful intervention from the international community to resolve the conflict in accordance with the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and the aspirations of the people of Occupied Kashmir. He highlighted the cruelty and brutality inflicted on innocent Kashmiris by the occupying forces. He said that the Jammu and Kashmir conflict, which has its roots in history and geopolitics, is a long-standing problem in South Asia. He said that the long struggle spanning more than seven decades has violated international laws and the United Nations Security Council. draws global attention to the importance of the resolutions. The High Commissioner said that there is deep concern over the recent Indian Supreme Court’s endorsement of India’s unilateral and illegal actions on August 5, 2019. The High Commissioner said that this decision is tantamount to killing justice. He expressed concern that by filing a fabricated case against Yasin Malik, many people in Jammu and Kashmir have become fearful that the Indian state has already decided to sign his death warrant.Kashmir Appreciating the support of the British parliamentarians for the cause, the High Commissioner said that it is encouraging that the people of the UK, represented by their parliamentarians, are aware of the plight of the Kashmiri people. He said that the presence of a large number of British parliamentarians in the APPG is a strong sign of the common commitment of the people of Jammu and Kashmir to the right to self-determination. Citing reports from other credible institutions, it said Indian forces are involved in illegal detentions, killings, violent incidents, fake encounters and rapes. The parliamentarians warned that India is fast moving towards genocide in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Informing about the ground realities, Ms. Shaista Saifee, a local Kashmiri, said that Kashmiris have become prisoners while living on their own land. India has continued its worst surveillance on Kashmiris, including a ban on social media. He said that the United Nations should pay attention to the plight of the oppressed Kashmiris. He thanked the British parliamentarians for raising their voice for Kashmiris.
