London: On the occasion of next month’s general elections in Pakistan, a delegation of Commonwealth observers will arrive in Pakistan on February 1 to observe the election. The delegation will be headed by the former president of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan and 13 observers will be involved. A press release has been issued by the Commonwealth regarding the visit to Pakistan, which states that ‘Our Election Observers Group was requested by the Election Commission of Pakistan through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of their country. According to the statement, a 13-member delegation is being sent at the request of the Election Commission, which will observe the elections and will remain in Pakistan until the election process is completed. The members of the team have been selected by Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Scotland, which includes the most expert officials, these observers will provide a comprehensive and independent review of Pakistan’s electoral process.
